Marine Phytoplankton

Marine Phytoplankton facts show that it is a complete food source, providing more than 90 ionic and trace minerals to help produce new cells and neuro-chemicals to strengthen both brain and body. Marine phytoplankton also contains the 9 amino acids that the human body is unable to make on its own. Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids are also present in this amazing sea vegetable, as are vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, and D.

The residual energy provided by marine phytoplankton has a cumulative effect, building up in the body as it is consumed daily. Marine phytoplankton has been shown to contain high levels of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory nutrients that can decrease the risk of oxidation, toxicity, and inflammation.

Red Halophine Pink (RED) D-Salina micro-algae

Red Halophine Pink (RED) D-Salina micro-algae

Halophine Pink (RED) Micro-Algae D-S cells are the richest known source of dietary beta-carotene, typically comprising 8 —10% of its dry weight (and sometimes higher). It is rich in a spectrum of daily life nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, protein and amino acids, lipids, carbohydrates, chlorophyll and other important phytonutrients.

Powerful antioxidant carotenoids – It contains a mix of natural carotenoids. Some of the major carotenoids include: beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin and cryptoxanthin. Carotenoids are pigments responsible for the red, orange, yellow and green colours of fruit and vegetables.
Research shows that carotenoids have antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic and immune enhancing
properties. They help to protect against free radical cell damage responsible for premature ageing, cataracts, cardiovascular disease and other chronic diseases.

Australian Arthrospira Platensis (Spirulina)

Australian Arthrospira Platensis (Spirulina)

Australian Arthrospira Platensis (Spirulina) is a simple one-celled microscopic blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria).  Spirulina is often deemed the most nutritionally complete of all food supplements, containing a rich supply of many important nutrients, including protein, complex carbohydrates, iron, and vitamins A, K, and B complex. It also has a high supply of carotenoids such as beta carotene and yellow xanthophylls which have antioxidant properties. It is also rich in chlorophyll, fatty and nucleic acids, and lipids. Thus, spirulina has countless uses as a supplement for maintaining good health and for preventing diseases. Spirulina is an ideal anti-aging food; concentrated nutrient value, easily digested and loaded with antioxidants. Beta carotene is good for healthy eyes and vision. Spirulina beta carotene is ten times more concentrated than carrots. Research confirms spirulina promotes digestion and bowel function. It suppresses bad bacteria like e-coli and Candida yeast and stimulates beneficial flora like lactobacillus and bifidobacteria. Healthy flora is the foundation of good health and it increases absorption of nutrients from the foods we eat, and helps protect against infection. Spirulina builds healthy lactobacillus, aiding assimilation and elimination and relieving constipation.

Astaxanthin (a keto-carotenoid)

Astaxanthin (a keto-carotenoid)

Astaxanthin is a keto-carotenoid. It belongs to a larger class of chemical compounds known as terpenes; terpenes are built from five carbon precursors; isopentenyl diphosphate and dimethylallyl diphosphate. Astaxanthin, a carotenoid pigment that’s found in trout, microalgae, yeast, and shrimp, among other sea creatures. A powerful antioxidant, Astaxanthin is said to have many health benefits. It’s been linked to healthier skin, endurance, heart health, joint pain, and may even have a future in cancer treatment.  In terms of antioxidant power or potency, Astaxanthin is 550 times stronger than vitamin E, and 6,000 times stronger than vitamin C! The combination of its high-potency antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties allows it to address a vast array of health concerns. There has been a lot of study on how Astaxanthin can affect endurance, as well as fatigue levels after exercise. Studies show that it can boost the body’s use of fatty acids, which helps endurance, and prevent muscle and skeletal damage. Astaxanthin may also have a future in the treatment of joint pain, including conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. Researchers are also looking into claims that Astaxanthin can benefit heart health. A 2006 study examined Astaxanthin’s effects on hypertension (high blood pressure), and results indicated that it may help to improve elastin levels and arterial wall thickness.

Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis)

Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis)

Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) one of the oldest healing plants known to mankind, supports health of the digestive system and support circulation. Although Aloe is about 99% water, the remaining 1% is extremely powerful and it is thought this is because the close to 100 ingredients work extremely well together (synergistically). Aloe vera contains many minerals vital to the growth process and healthy function of all the body’s systems. The ingredients in Aloe can be grouped into the following categories: Vitamins, Minerals, Sugars, Enzymes, Lignins, Amino Acids, Anthraquinones, Saponins, Fatty Acids, Salicylic Acid.  Aloe also seems to be excellent at regulating the immune system (an immunomodulator). Various research studies are underway to explore the potential of the components to boost immunity and combat the HIV virus, and to treat certain types of cancer (particularly leukemia). It may even have a role to play in managing diabetes.

White Grapes (Vitis Vinifera)

White Grapes (Vitis Vinifera)

White Grapes (Vitis Vinifera) are very beneficial as a fruit as they contain lots of vitamin C as well as also flavonoids, which are potent antioxidants. Rich in antioxidants, grape seeds in particular are often extracted as these provide one of the most potent antioxidants found in nature. Antioxidants are believed to prevent and control numerous ailments by safeguarding cells against the ravages of unstable oxygen molecules called free radicals. Grape seed extract contains a special class of water-soluble bioflavonoids called proanthocyanidins (PCOs). Studies have shown the antioxidant activity of these specific bioflavonoids is 20 to 50 times greater than Beta-Carotene or Vitamins C and E. The proanthocyanidins found in grape seed extract have also been shown to help promote the structural strength of blood vessels, help stabilise collagen, and maintain elastin. Collagen and elastin are two proteins found in connective tissue that support organs, joints, and muscles. By nourishing blood vessel walls and performing other renewing functions, grape seed extract helps promote healthy blood pressure levels, heart health, and a proper inflammation response.

Bilberry (Vaccinium Myrtillus)

Bilberry (Vaccinium Myrtillus)

Bilberry (Vaccinium Myrtillus) – contains anthocyanosides, potent antioxidants which strengthen blood vessels and capillary walls, may reduce cholesterol effects and six times the amount of antioxidants than that of citrus fruits. Bilberry has a long medicinal history in Europe. It has been used to treat anything from kidney stones to Typhoid fever. During World War 2 British pilots noted that Bilberry jam before a flight dramatically improved night vision. Modern research now supports these claims. Bilberry contains anthocyanosides which are potent antioxidants which strengthen blood vessels and capillary walls, improve red blood cells, stabilize collagen tissues such as tendons, ligaments and cartilage and has cholesterol lowering effects. They also increase retinal pigments that allow the eye to tolerate light. In addition, it helps to maintain the flexibility of red blood cells, allowing them to pass through the capillaries and supply oxygen. The herb has been shown to be a vasodilator that opens blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Since the eyes have a high concentration of capillaries, bilberry may be particularly helpful in improving eyesight. The herb has been shown to improve night vision, slow macular degeneration, prevent cataracts and diabetic retinopathy. Scientific studies have shown improvement in the eyesight, circulation, angina, stroke and atherosclerosis. It is also used to improve varicose veins and has anti-aging effects on collagen structures.

Ginger Root (Zingiber Officinale)

Ginger Root (Zingiber Officinale)

Ginger root (Zingiber officinale) is well known as a remedy for travel sickness, nausea and indigestion and is used for wind, colic, irritable bowel, loss of appetite, chills, cold, flu, poor circulation, menstrual cramps, dyspepsia (bloating, heartburn, flatulence), indigestion and gastrointestinal problems such as gas and stomach cramps. Chinese medicine use Ginger Root to treat inflammation and chronic pain, ideal for boosting the circulation, lowering high blood pressure and keeping the blood thin when used in higher amounts. Ginger has been well researched and many of its traditional uses confirmed. It is a warming remedy, ideal for boosting the circulation, lowering high blood pressure and keeping the blood thin in higher doses. Ginger is anti-viral and makes a warming cold and flu remedy. Ginger is a powerful anti-inflammatory herb and there has been much recent interest in its use for joint problems. It has also been indicated for arthritis, fevers, headaches, toothaches, coughs, bronchitis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, to ease tendonitis, lower cholesterol and blood-pressure and aid in preventing internal blood clots. Ginger root was recently the subject of a startling new research report presented at The American Association for Cancer Research conference in Phoenix. In the study, ginger actually suppressed cancer cells suggesting that the herb was able to fuel apoptosis or the death of the cancer cells. Ginger has been shown to work against skin, ovarian, colon and breast cancer. But it had not been shown to halt the progression of cancer until now. However, more research is required to confirm this.

Frankincense (Boswellia serrata)

Frankincense (Boswellia serrata)

Frankincense (Boswellia serrata) an aromatic tree oil resin and in Christian tradition one of the three wise men’s gifts to the baby Jesus. It may be a helpful treatment for bladder cancer, according to a study published today. US scientists tested an enriched extract of the frankincense herb boswellia carteri on both human bladder cancer cells and normal bladder cells in laboratory experiments. The oil suppressed cancer growth and activated mechanisms which kill the dangerous cells, they said. “Frankincense oil can discriminate bladder cancer cells and normal urothelial cells in culture. The oil suppresses cell survival and induces apoptosis in cultured bladder cancer cells,” said the study. Lead researcher Doctor Hsueh-Kung Lin of the University of Oklahoma said: “Frankincense oil may represent an inexpensive alternative therapy for patients currently suffering from bladder cancer.” The study noted that the oil originated from Africa, India and the Middle East and has been “important both socially and economically as an ingredient in incense and perfumes for thousands of years”.
Frankincense provides relief to Arthritis sufferers a Osteoarthritis medicine, an enriched extract of the ‘Indian Frankincense’ herb Boswellia serrata has been proven to reduce the symptoms of osteoarthritis. Research published in BioMed Central’s open access journal Arthritis Research & Therapy has shown that patients taking the herbal remedy showed significant improvement in as little as seven days.

Apples (malus sylvestris or pyrus malus)

Apples (malus sylvestris or pyrus malus)

Apples (malus sylvestris or pyrus malus) are rich in several vitamins including Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and Vitamin E. Vitamin C from apples, like any other source of the vitamin, can help to boost your immune system and help you stay healthy overall. The vitamins A and E will also have an effect on your health as they have been known to help reduce the risk of of developing heart disease, diabetes, and even asthma. Apples are also a good source of pectin and boron. Pectin is a soluble fiber that can help regulate the digestive system. In addition to this, pectin also lowers blood pressure, glucose levels, and bad cholesterol. Consumption of boron can support bone and brain health. In a ten year study, scientists found that seniors who consumed the equivalent of a medium or large apple in white produce had a fifty-two percent less risk of having a stroke as compared to others who ate less of the white produce. In fact, it was discovered as a general rule of thumb that every twenty-five grams of apples consumed daily resulted in a seven percent lowering of the chance of a stroke due to the number of health promoting nutrients apples contain.

Rose Hip / Rosehip (fruit of a rose)

Rose Hip / Rosehip (fruit of a rose)

Rose Hip / Rosehip (fruit of a rose)  Rose Hip Blend – high in vitamin C, an excellent immune system booster, used to improve and relieve the symptoms of kidney disorders. A rose hip is the fruit of a rose. Also known as rose haw or rose hep. This plant grows up to ten feet tall and bears a white, very fragrant flower. Once the flower has bloomed, and all the petals have fallen off, the hip is picked and used in a wide variety of preparations. Rose hips are the best source of vitamin C; they contain 50% more vitamin C than oranges. A single tablespoon of the pulp gives an adult more than the recommended daily allowance of 60 mg. The fruit acids and pectin in rose hip tea is a mild diuretic and laxative. It is used to improve, and relieve the symptoms of kidney disorders, or to help in the case of mild constipation. Because they contain a variety of antioxidants; carotenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols, leucoanthocyanins and catechins, rose hips are considered to be a good cancer preventative. These same antioxidants are also used to prevent against cardiovascular disease. The vitamin A in Rosehip is also beneficial to the immune system. It can help to prevent infections from both bacteria and viruses. It helps the immune system to fight off any infections that do occur too.

Noni juice (Morinda citrifolia)

Noni juice (Morinda citrifolia)

Noni (Morinda Citrifolia) is a fruit with extraordinary healing properties that most people have never heard of. It’s been successfully used for over 2,000 years in Polynesia, China, India and elsewhere. Noni works synergistically with other food supplements and/or medications. Noni probably helps with prevention, and works optimally in conjunction with other antioxidants. Noni helps animals heal faster.

Dr. Schechter, director of the Natural Healing Institute in California, reports that there has been a wealth of information supporting the traditional uses and health benefits of Noni. His work supports what the Kahunas (traditional healers in Hawaii) have known and used beneficially for thousands of years. He confirmed in an interview that the positive results obtained by physicians using Noni were consistent with the results obtained by naturopathic clinicians. Dr. Schechter’s clinical investigations suggest that: Noni stimulates the production of T-cells in the immune system. T-cells play a pivotal role in fighting disease. Noni acts to enhance the immune system involving macrophages and/or lymphocytes, which are a vital part of your body’s natural defenses. Noni has been shown to combat many types of bacteria. Noni has unique anti-pain effects.
